Audi
Audi is a German manufacturer of luxury cars, whose head office is in Ingolstadt in Germany. The company was founded on 25 April 1910 by August Horch.
Thereafter, August Horch founded Audi. He got the name for one of the largest car brands in the world today from his son, who was studying Latin and translated the family name into Latin. You see, translated from old German, Horch means ‘listen’, and ‘listen’ in Latin is ‘audi’.
In 1932, Audi merged with three other car brands, establishing the corporation Auto Union. The Audi logo with the four rings represents the 4 manufacturers, Audi, Horch, DKW and Wanderer. In 1977, all Auto Union cars were marketed under the Audi brand.
Audi’s slogan is ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ (advancement through technology).
Today, Audi has more than 80,000 employees and manufactures more than 2,000,000 cars every year. Audi is manufactured in 11 different factories in 9 countries and supplies cars all over the world.
Today, Audi is part of the Volkswagen Group and, for several years, has participated in the 24-hour Le Mans race, winning several victories.
